Description
Brigadier General C. S. Irvine, second from right, is shown handing the keys to the Air Force's first B-36D to Lieutenant Clarence F. Horton Jr. of San Antonio. Horton's crewmen, headed by Master Sergeant Matt Sarich of Roundup, Montana, showed "best progress in training," according to the 26th Squadron commander, Lieutenant Colonel Howard F. Hugos. Left to right, are Colonel T. P. Gerrity, 11th Bomb Group commander; Sarich, Horton, Irvine, and Hugos. Published in the evening edition, August 29, 1950.
