Principals in the sale of the first carload of new crop wheat were Ben Ferugson, left, secretary of the Texas Grain and Feed Association, who auctioned the load; Harry Hitch, center, assistant general manager of Uhlmann Elevators of Texas, who bought the wheat at $2.50 per bushel; and Julian Scott, vice president of Transit Grain Company, which handled the load. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition May 25, 1954.
