The 1941 college football season is opening at Farrington Field in Fort Worth, Texas. The Texas Wesleyan Rams are hosting the visiting Hardin-Simmons Cowboys. Attending the game, left to right, are Miss Doris Gathings and Miss Elizabeth Ann McElyea. They are posing with "Willie" the Ram's mascot goat. Miss Gathings, seventeen, is a Covington freshman. She is wearing a collared blouse, corduroy blazer, and a matching skirt, silk stockings and two-tone loafers. She has a metal banded wrist watch, loop earrings, and a "TWC" pin on her lapel. Willie is posing between the girls in a wagon. Miss McElyea, eighteen, is the T. W. C. football sweetheart. She is wearing a wool dress with small chains in each buttonhole on the bodice, a bracelet on her right wrist and a wristwatch on her left wrist, and a chrysanthemum "mum" corsage.
