Description
The 1941 college football season is opening at Farrington Field in Fort Worth, Texas. The Texas Wesleyan Rams are hosting the visiting Hardin-Simmons Cowboys. H. C. Burrus (27), the brilliant pass-catching Cowboy end, is shown with the ball late in the game. He lined up at the left half and ran the ball to the right. The play went for thirteen yards an the Cowboy's third touchdown. With the score, Burrus proved he is also a strong ball-carrier. Attempting to stop Burrus before he crosses the goal line are Rams Joe Turner (37), W. H. Ledbetter (42), and Joe Conway (48). There is a photographer and an official on the left of the photo, and the marching band brass instruments can be seen in the background next to the audience. "(Star-Telegram Photos by Tom Dillard.)"
