    Description

To raise the $3,553,000,000 defense revenue contemplated in the tax bill passed by the Congress and sent to the President for signature, many commodities small and big will be looked at closely. Sports and recreation is included as a source of revenue for the nation's defense effort and included in the new tax bill. Mrs. Elsie Jacobs is about to send a bowling ball down the alley at S. and T. Bowling Center. After October 1, there will be a $15.00 tax annually on each alley in the emporium. The pool sharks will be taxed at $10.00 on each table. Likewise, slot machines which were not taxed before, will be hit with a $50.00 annual tax on each of them. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, September 18, 1941.
