    Description

The city of Fort Worth had its annual picnic for the 200 policemen and their families gathered at Camp Swift, Lake Worth. They enjoyed 800 pounds of barbecue and 150 cases of soft drinks, 4,000 pounds of ice and every intention of having a big time. The picnic started at 9 am. and continued until midnight so officers of all three shifts could attend. Officer G. D. Lanford umpires a croquet game as his grandson, 9-year-old George Raymond Mitcham, sends a ball through a wicket, and Roland Maclin, 8, and Ann Leath, 8, look on. George Raymond is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mitcham; Ronland Maclin is the son of Officer and Mrs. C. M Maclin; and Ann is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Leath. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, September 4, 1941.
