Description

Texas recruits are leaving for duty with the Air Corps to Ellington Field, in Houston, Texas. The twelve brand new soldiers are shown standing on the steps of the United States Army recruiting office building in Fort Worth, Texas. They are, left to right, on the front row, Lathie E. Jarrell (Stephenville, Texas), Olen C. Christie (Mineral Wells, Texas), Jerry M. Parnell (Stephenville), and Richard L. Keagle (Fort Worth). On the middle row are Fay Groom (Fort Worth), Charles Trimble (Stephenville), Thomas B. Connell Junior (Fort Worth), and O. D. Bounds Junior (Fort Worth). On the back row are Boyd Woodall Junior (Mineral Wells), Charles D. Edmondson (Mineral Wells), O. W. Latham (Springtown, Texas), and Harlan Vess (Springtown). The recruits are carrying their suitcases as they embark for training.
