Description
Emmett Maxon, of Vernon, Texas, winning the 100-yard dash in 9.9 seconds at a regional high school track meet in Denton, Texas. He is shown crossing the threshold of the finish line. His arms are raised up. Six unidentified runners are close behind him; one athlete at the far right is partially out of frame. All the runners are wearing shorts and athletic shoes, and all are wearing tank tops except for Maxon, who is shirtless. Spectators are standing on either side of the track, watching the race. At the right is a fence separating the bleachers from the track. After the meet, Maxon will be leaving for West Point, New York, to enter the United States Military Academy.
