Description
Ernest Gibbens Junior, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gibbens Senior, of Alpine, Texas, with his third prize calf at the 1941 Southwestern Livestock Show at El Paso, Texas. Ernest is standing behind the calf, holding onto its lead and smiling slightly. He is wearing a dark cowboy hat, a collared shirt and trousers. He has a bandage over his left eye. The cow is primarily a dark color with the exception of its face and underbelly. In the background are several people walking in and out of a brick building.
