Description

The Brewer Murder Trial is underway at the Tarrant County Courthouse. Earl T. Brewer, forty, is on trial for murdering his son-in-law H. Glen Cox at an east-side apartment on January 10, 1941. Mr. Brewer's fourteen year old daughter eloped with the victim in Fort Worth, Texas. The slaying followed the first meeting between Mr. Brewer and Mr. Cox, after the marriage. The Brewers and the Cox Family live on neighboring farms in Fannin County, Texas. The Brewer Family is shown on the steps, exiting the courthouse. Left to right are Ross Elliott Brewer, Earl Thomas Brewer, Mrs. Brewer, Lloyd Allen Brewer, Virginia Ruth Brewer Cox, and Joe Earl Brewer. Ross Elliott, ten, is wearing a coat, trousers, and carrying his hat. Mr. Brewer is dressed in a three-piece suit and carrying his hat. Mrs. Brewer is wearing a scarf around her head, blouse, skirt, and a coat. Lloyd Allen, seven, is dressed in a hat, cot, and trousers. Virginia, fourteen, is the wife of the victim. She is wearing a buttoned coat with a pin on the collar. Joe Earl, seventeen, is dressed in a button-up shirt, blazer, and trousers. Not shown are two sons twelve year old Tom Frank and five year old Roy Dean. The youngest is home with chickenpox.
