Description

The Brewer Murder Trial is underway at the Tarrant County Courthouse. Earl T. Brewer, forty, is on trial for murdering his son-in-law H. Glen Cox at an east-side apartment on January 10, 1941. Mr. Brewer's fourteen year old daughter eloped with the victim in Fort Worth, Texas. The slaying followed the first meeting between Mr. Brewer and Mr. Cox, after the marriage. The Brewers and the Cox Family live on neighboring farms in Fannin County, Texas. Attending the trial left to right are Virginia Ruth Brewer Cox, T. Mount Cox, Joe D. Cox, and Lila Cox. Virginia is the wife of the victim and the daughter of the accused. She is wearing a short-sleeve, floral print dress. T. Mount is the father of H. Glen. He is dressed in a three-piece suit with a rolled-up Fort Worth Star-Telegram in his jacket pocket. Joe, T. Mount's cousin, is reuniting with the family after thirty-seven years. He is dressed in a button-up shirt, coat, and trousers. Lila is the victim's sister. She is wearing a collared dress with a zipper down the front. The group is posing in front of a window at the courthouse.
