    Richard Mechacha, left, of Port Arthur, Texas, shown landing a straight left to Harold Lawler's face during their match at the Golden Gloves State Tournament at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Lawler is from Tyler, Texas. Menchacha was the best amateur bantamweight boxer in the 1940 national Golden Gloves competition. Spectators sitting ringside can be seen in the background.
