Abilene business men subscribed $125,000 to lease the property for Army training camp at View, Texas, and make it available to the Government. Shown here are Oswin McCarty, Major General of the Army obtaining out-of-town subscriptions: M. M. Meek, Major General for large subscriptions, and Merle Gruver, Manager of the Abilene chamber. They are active in making Abilene arrangements for the army training camp at View. All are wearing suits and ties and standing in a room near a table. Major General Meek is holding a piece of paper and others are looking at the paper. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, December 7, 1940.
