Description
A relic of the pioneer days when it was a center of civil and social activities was the home of the late L. E. Seaman, now occupied by Tom Belding, whose grandfather settled about 25 miles upstream more than 80 years ago. The building will become of interest to the new park. The house is a simple pier and beam wooden house with stone covering. In the foreground is a stone retaining wall with simple stairs leading to the yard of the house. Nearly 7,000 acres of Brazos Valley land has been deeded to Texas for the newest park, Possum Kingdom State Park, near Breckenridge. The Civilian Conservation Corps is to begin work in early 1941. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 13, 1940.
