Staff Sergeant Luther Spencer, 25, of Abilene, Texas, United States Army Air Forces (AAF), is a crew chief of a Twelfth Air Force P-47 Thunderbolt fighter-bomber. He is shown, from the chest up, outside working on a part of a plane. He is wearing a collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a hat. Spencer enlisted on January 2, 1941 and went overseas July 1, 1942. His fighter group recently received its third Presidential citation.
