    Description

    Wearing the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with three clusters, the Distinguished Unit Badge, and the ETO ribbon with two stars, Staff Sergeant Fred W. Plummer returned to visit his mother, Mrs. Mary V. Plummer after 16 months overseas. Plummer completed 28 missions as tail and waist gunner on a B-17 and is credited with destroying one enemy plane. He also holds a personal citation for aerial photography over Berlin and other enemy territory. He attended Arlington Heights High School and was employed at an aircraft factory in Baltimore, Maryland before entering service in August, 1942. In this picture, he is wearing a military uniform and standing against the wall. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, November 7, 1944.
