Description

The 1943 Golden Gloves season is concluding with the national fights at the Chicago Tournament of Champions. The amateur competition is being held at Chicago Stadium in Illinois. The fighters and trainers representing the state of Texas are shown gathering before the fights. Squatting on the front row, left to right, are Gene Poletti (heavyweight), Morris Carona (welterweight), Tom Attra (light-heavyweight), and Emil Zoltak (middleweight). On the middle row, left to right, are Manny Ortega (featherweight), Frankie Montoya (bantamweight), Jose Andres (flyweight), and Hubert Gray (lightweight). Five unidentified trainers are standing on the back row. The boxers are wearing matching coats and trousers.
