    Description

    The 1942 Golden Gloves State Tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Pictured during the awards ceremony following the championship heavyweight fight, left to right, are Corporal J. Olcott Phillips, Jay Turner, and Gilbert Stromquist. Corporal Phillips is the 1942 heavyweight champion. He is wearing a robe over his shoulders and holding a trophy. Mr. Turner was the 1941 heavyweight champion. Now retired, he is presenting the trophies. He is dressed in a cowboy hat, collared shirt, necktie, jacket, and trousers. Mr. Stromquist is being presented with the runner-up trophy after losing to Phillips.
