Amateur boxers from all around the area are preparing for the 1942 Golden Gloves District Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. Watching workouts in the Golden Gloves gymnasium are Sammy Bates Senior and Sammy Bates Junior. Papa Bates will battle for the welterweight championship in the district tournament. He is dressed in a collared shirt, jacket, and trousers. Sammy Jr. is wearing a hat, jacket, and shorts.
