Marion Miley, a nationally known golf star, and her mother, Mrs. Fred Miley, were killed on September 28, 1941. They were staying at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky, when the robbery-homicide occurred. Two Fort Worth Police detectives were following a lead on another case when they saw a two-toned Buick with Kentucky plates parked outside a beer tavern. On a hunch, the detectives brought the driver and passenger in for questioning. The suspects will remain in Fort Worth, Texas, until every effort has been made to establish them as the murders. Pictured at the station, left to right, are lead suspect Tom Penney and fingerprint expert Frank Gravitt. Mr. Penney is signing a statement, confessing to staging the robbery and the murders of Miss Miley and her mother. Mr. Gravitt traveled from Lexington, Kentucky, to help break the case.
