Description
Marion Miley, a nationally known golf star, and her mother, Mrs. Fred Miley, were killed on September 28, 1941. They were staying at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky, when the robbery-homicide occurred. Two Fort Worth Police detectives were following a lead on another case when they saw a two-toned Buick with Kentucky plates parked outside a beer tavern. On a hunch, the detectives brought the driver and passenger in for questioning. The suspects will remain in Fort Worth, Texas, until every effort has been made to establish them as the murders. Pictured at the station, left to right, are witnesses Bud Tomlinson and Tom Lunsford. They are shown sitting on a bench, smoking cigarettes. Both men are from Lexington, Kentucky. They reported being propositioned by lead suspect Tom Penney to participate in robbing the County Club. Mr. Tomlinson is dressed in a suit. He also reported that Penney asked him for a gun. Mr. Lunsford is wearing a double breasted pinstripe suit.
