Description

Marion Miley, a nationally known golf star, and her mother, Mrs. Fred Miley, were killed on September 28, 1941. They were staying at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky, when the robbery-homicide occurred. The reward poster is shown, providing information and details on the suspects. The poster was put out by John S. Yellman, secretary-treasurer of the country club where the crime was committed. A $3,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the murderer's arrest. Two Fort Worth Police detectives were following a lead on another case when they saw a two-toned Buick with Kentucky plates parked outside a beer tavern. On a hunch, the detectives brought the driver in for questioning. The suspect, Tom Penney, was questioned in Fort Worth, Texas. Eventually, Mr. Penney admitted to firing the shots that killed Miss Miley and her mother. He signed a written statement, confessing to the robbery and the murders. The text on the poster reads: "Wanted For Murder/ $3,000 Reward/ Offered by Mr. John S.
