Description
Camp Bowie Army maneuvers. The 180th Infantry's Company D from Okemah, Oklahoma, and New Mexico wielded this 30-caliber machine gun on aircraft and scout cars. Private (Pvt.) Homer D. McCormick is in front of the water-cooled gun. Around it are Privates (Pvts.) T. Chavez, D. Quintana, M. Roybal (at gun), Corporal (Corp.) Paul Wildman, and standing, Private (Pvt.) Marvin A. Thomas. At the side of the weapon carrier is Sergeant (Sergt.) B. J. Harje. The group is taking a break from driving, having parked on a dirt road. A machine gun is mounted on the bed of the truck, and the soldiers are loosely gathered around, everyone but Sergeant (Sergt.) Harje is sitting on the truck. All soldiers are wearing uniforms. Background showing the field. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, June 15, 1941.
