Description
Thousands of civilians flocked to Camp Bowie and Camp Wolters to catch a glimpse of what the country is doing in way of national defense. Marching troops, social life, and field maneuvers made it a full day for the men in uniform and the visitors. The festivities at Camp Wolters in Mineral Wells, Texas concluded with a dinner at a downtown hotel. Pictured left to right are Colonel Fay W. Brabson, Lieutenant Colonel Otto F. Lange, and Lieutenant Colonel Archibald M. Mixson. They are standing against a wall, dressed in their military uniforms. Colonel Brabson is the executive officer of the infantry replacement center. Lieutenant Colonel Lange is the plans and training officer. Lieutenant Colonel Mixson is the commander of Camp Wolters' first battalion of selectees. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, morning edition, April 8, 1941.
