Description
The West Texas Fair is being held in Abilene, Texas. A parade is opening Children's Day, the second day of festivities. The parade is one of the largest and most colorful in the history of Abilene. The West Texas Utility float is shown traveling down the crowded street. It is the first prize winner in the commercial division and recipient of the $50 prize. The float is decorated with American flags and tassels hanging from the bottom. There is an eagle figure with its wings spread out perched on a throne decorated as a flag. A young child and young girl are sitting on the float. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 10, 1940.
