Description
The West Texas Fair is being held in Abilene, Texas. A parade is opening Children's Day, the second day of festivities. The parade is one of the largest and most colorful in the history of Abilene. The Phi Sigma Chi Fraternity float is shown traveling down the crowded street. It is decorated in white with red and blue trimmings and carries the words "Phi Sigma Chi; America's Youth Will Do Its Part". The float is the winner of the grand prize of $100. The float has tree-like structures and in the middle sits a beauty queen. The fraternity members dressed in light-colored suits and holding a decorated rope are walking on both sides of the float. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 10, 1940.
