The West Texas Fair is being held in Abilene, Texas. A parade is opening Children's Day, the second day of festivities. The parade is one of the largest and most colorful in the history of Abilene. The Hardin-Simmons University Golden Jubilee float is shown traveling down Pine Street. A young girl is riding the saddle on the front of the float. She is dressed as a cowgirl. Two cowboys holding flags on a pole and cowgirls are riding behind her. A beauty queen wearing a crown is sitting at the end of the float. A Spectators line both sides of the street. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 10, 1940.
