Description
The Odessa High School football team will face off against the Jefferson Mustangs (San Antonio, Texas) in the Texas State Championship in Austin, Texas. One of the key pieces for the Bronchos is workhorse H. L. "Sonny" Holderman. He handles most of the punting duties and backfield blocking. Holderman is shown racing down the field with the football tucked in his right arm. His left is extended, poised to throw a stiff arm. He is dressed in a uniform, number 37. The Odessa Bronchos went on to beat the Mustangs, winning the 1946 State Championship 21-14.
