Description
The North Side High School football team will be a strong contender for the state play-offs in 1946. The Steers are preparing for their opening game Friday night against Adamson of Dallas, Texas. Bill Bumgarner (left) and Yale Lary (right) are taking pointers from coaches L. B. Morris and Paul Snow on ball handling. The two players are shown practicing a hand-off. Lary is a star athlete for the Steers in both football and baseball. In football he excels at defensive back, safety, and punting. Lary later went on to play professional football with the Detroit Lions for eleven seasons and was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
