Chaplain William P. Weeks and wife are visiting here as guests of Reverend and Mrs. Louis F. Martin. Chaplain Weeks is a Navy Lieutenant and was ship (attack-transport) chaplain for 14 months who conducted Protestant and Jewish ceremonies and arranged for Catholic services on board whenever possible. Most interesting of his services was one celebrating holy communion with some South Pacific island natives in their native language. The chaplain is a former curate of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. Mrs. Weeks served 32 months in the Navy Nurse Corps, including nine months service at Pear Harbor. The couple, married in January 15 and plan to return to Fort Worth when Weeks is discharged in June. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 31, 1946.
