Description
First Lieutenant Robert S. Lard, often decorated veteran of the year's combat in the European theater as platoon leader of a tank destroyer battalion, has just returned to his home in Fort Worth. Hailed for his heroism in volunteering to go in a jeep to reconnoiter an enemy-filled building and under sniper and small arms fire, he returned to initiated the attack mounting the lead tank destroyer. Mr. Lard has attended Texas A & M College. He was graduated from high school in El Paso. A brother, Homer Lard, lives in Uvalde. Lard is shown in uniform with hands on waist, smiling. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 12, 1945.
