Description
Private Robert Stephen Wallace, now in training at Camp Wolters, was careful to check his pocketknife when he spent the weekend at the Service Men's Center here for it is his most prized possession. With his pocketknife, Wallace carved a career that promises a bright future. He learned wood carving as a boy and has some works photographed and used in advertisement. The most recent creation of his facile knife is Effie Klinker, the engaging old maid for the ventriloquist Edgar Bergen. Before entering service, Wallace also worked as technical illustrator at Douglas Aircraft. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 13, 1945.
