Shown is a copy of a half bust portrait of Sergeant (Sgt.) Bill Manning, Van Alstyne. He is wearing jacket, tie and a hat. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Y. Manning. Sergeant (Sgt.) has been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received May 22 in the Philippines. Native of Leonard, Manning and his sister, Miss Lenora Manning of Baltimore, Maryland, were reared here by an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Orr Stinnett. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 4, 1945.
