Description
Soldiers may get their No. 1 dessert--Cherry pie. Lt. John Butz and his brother, Lt. Billy Butz, dreamed of a delicious homemade cherry pie during their many months' service in the ETO, but when they arrived home the cupboard was bare of canned cherries and butter, so they ate fruitcake. The brothers are on leave at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Butz of 3830 Tulsa Way. John has been with the 15th Air Force as a B-24 pilot for the past 10 months and Bill served as a company commander with the 3rd Army for 13 months. If Mrs. Butz can locate a can of Montmorency cherries and enough butter, she intends to make a pie. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition July 29, 1945
