Description

Lieutenant John W. Bryant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bryant has returned home after liberation from Stalag Luft 3 in Germany. He is on a 60-day leave. He spent almost a year as a German prisoner, near-starvation conditions. He was liberated April 29 by the 14th Armored Division of the 7th Army. Bryant, a B-24 bombardier with the 8th Air Force based in England was shot down April 22, 1944 over Brussels and was captured on May 17 in Arras, France. He is a graduate of Amon Carter Riverside High School and attended North Texas Agricultural College (NTAC) and Texas A&M. He has been in the service since December 1942. Bryant is shown in uniform, standing at ease position by a bare wall, and smiling. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 6, 1945.
