Description
A. G. Adair is preparing to leave for Washington, D. C., to demonstrate to the War Department a device for eliminating a large part of the recoil from rifles and cannons. Adair filed his invention with the War Department in 1943, while he was still experimenting with it. His invention is a tri-cylinder affair to fit on the end of the gun, on which the pressure from the explosion has a tendency to propel the rifle forward, thereby counteracting the recoil. He claims that with his own crude models he has eliminated 52 percent of recoil, and believes he can remove 65 percent eventually. Mr. Adair is shown holding a rifle and demonstrating his invention. He is wearing a hat, eyeglasses, collared shirt, necktie and trousers.
