Description
A. C. Furgeson Junior is a former serviceman with the United States Navy. He served with Team Seven of the Navy's Underwater Demolition Squad. While overseas, he swam to the beaches of Saipan, Tinian, and Peleliu, as a scout before Marine landings. Mr. Furgeson entered the Seabees in 1943 as a fair swimmer. He underwent rigorous physical training in swimming and diving before joining the "Suicide Squad." He holds the Bronze Star for his work at Tinian. He is shown standing against a wall, wearing a button-up shirt with cuffed sleeves.
