Description
Texas sectional tennis tournament in seven-days session will be held at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. The match, in the veterans' singles, will be between Leman Baker of Texas City and Carl Busch of Jasper and the consensus is that the winner of this third-round match will go on to annex the championship. Leman Baker is pictured here. He is shown standing against a fence and posing for the camera. He is wearing uniform. He is defending champion in the veterans' singles, having wrested the title from Busch last year at the tournament in Austin. Baker began his tennis career in Indiana 35 years ago and has been playing ever since. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, June 27, 1945.
