Over 300 Texas soldiers of the famed 86th 'Black Hawk' Division were excited to hit the soil of their home state when their special troop train paused recently at Texas and Pacific Station (T&P Station), Fort Worth, Texas, en route from Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, to Fort Sam Houston. Private (Pvt.) L. C. Shannon of Fort Worth is pictured here. He is dressed in uniform, leaning out the train window, smiling and waving his hand.. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Shannon. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, morning edition, June 22, 1945.
