Paul Burks, 19, arrived home after completing 50 missions with the 15th Air Force in Italy a week ahead of his brother, Charles Burks Jr., 21 seaman first class, who came to Fort Worth from Okinawa.Paul, who will leave Wednesday to report for reassignment at Santa Ana, Cal., was armor gunner on a B-24. He holds the Air Medal with two clusters, wears a bronze star for the Rome-Arne campaign and wears the distinguished unit citation award for raids against Ploesti. Charles wears campaign stars for the Philippine Islands and Okinawa battles on his Pacific service ribbon and stars for Leyte and Luzon on his Philippines liberation ribbon.Both the brothers are graduates of Polytechnic High School. Paul worked for Eastern Airlines in Houston before entering service in September 1943. Charles, who entered service a year before his brother, served aboard a Coast Guard cutter off the California before going overseas.
