Description
After spending "exactly 39 months, 14 days, three hours and 15 minutes" in the Southwest Pacific , China and India and winning two major battle stars, Staff Sergeant Melvin Justice is back with his big "family" at the Lena Pope Home. Sergeant and his fellow Flying Tigers adopted a Chinese girl named Suzie Wong when he was stationed at an air base in China.. Before Sergeant Justice was returned to the States, the 150 men had pooled enough money to educate the little underprivileged girl in China until she reaches the age of 13. Then she will be brought to the United States to complete her education. Sergeant Justice will report at the end of his furlough to Miami, Florida. Half-length portrait, facing left and in military uniform. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition.
