Description
Corporal William H. Barker, who was releaed from a Japanese prison at Cabanatuan in the Philippines, will marry the Texas girl who waited for him. Barker arrived in the United States March 8. He was one of the first prisoners rescued by the Rangers on Luzon island. He joined MacArthur's forces in Bataan when the Japanese attacked Manila. The couple met in 1939 and were engaged when Barker left for Manila. Miss Ann McDonald, daughter of Mrs. B. H. McDonald and Corporal William H. Barker, will be married at the home of Miss McDonald's sister, Mrs. Mac C. Fisher. Reverend Hayden Edwards will read the double ring ceremony. The couple's only attendants will be Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Murphree. The couple is standing in front of a fireplace. Cpl. Barker is in his military uniform. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, April 28, 1945.
