Description
Captain A. B. Gant was an officer in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. His photograph is shown next to a picture of his office in Weatherford, Texas. The office, known as the "biggest land office west of Fort Worth," was photographed in 1868. It housed a drugstore and a newspaper. Captain Gant was a member of Company A, 9th Texas Cavalry, the first company recruited for the Confederate Army in Fort Worth, Texas. He was photographed in 1860 by J. H. Clark of New Orleans, Louisiana.
