A copy of the military portrait photograph of Staff Sergeant Russell R. Hicks, an aerial gunner and engineer in the Army Air Force. He is based on a Liberator in Italy. Sergeant Hicks was awarded an Air Medal for his service. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hicks of Whitewright, Texas. The handwritten note on the photograph reads, "To Mom & Dad, Love Russel."
