Golden Gloves boxers Hector Marques (left), 116-pound bantamweight from El Paso, Texas, unleashes a barrage of body blows which floored Wiley McCarty, 118, of Littlefield, Texas and Lubbock, Texas, in the first round of their quarterfinal Golden Gloves bout at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum Saturday night (February 17). Marques was awarded a kayo. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 18, 1945.
