Golden Gloves boxers Donald Frye, (right), 127-pound featherweight from Milby High (Houston, Texas), wavers during a heated third-round exchange with Corporal Ralph Briggs, 127, from Laredo Army Air Force base and San Antonio, Texas, in their quarterfinal Gloves bout Saturday night (February 17). Seconds later, the Houston boy scored a knockdown to gain the decision. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 18, 1945.
