    Yeoman first class Jake Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Smith, 550 Parkdale, is a survivor of the U.S.S. Lexington. He flew back Wednesday from the Pacific where he has spent the last 28 months in classified operations traffic for a task force in Dutch Guinea. He has been engaged principally in Naval aviation operations and has had experience flying with the Australians and Dutch. He is shown standing against a bare wall, facing front and wearing his Navy uniform with rank stripes on the sleeve and comb in shirt pocket. Smith will report October 19 for V-7, officers training at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N. Y. He is a 1939 graduate of Texas Christian University (TCU) and was employed by the Star-Telegram before entering the service in August, 1941. He has a brother, John Allison Smith.
