Sudan Pilot Won Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for Japanese Raid -- Lieutenant (Lt.), Junior Grade (jg) Aubrey Earle Fife of Sudan, Texas, pilot of a Douglas dive-bomber, wore the Distinguished Flying Cross for "participating in a raid on the Japanese fleet" in the Southwest Pacific on June 20. He is home on leave after completing 32 missions from a pacific Fleet aircraft carrier. He is pictured here -- a young man wearing uniform, facing front and smiling. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Fife of Sudan. On August 19, he will be married to Miss Grace Jean Dromgoole. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, August 17, 1944.
