    Description

    Marine Private First Class Aven Pierce, veteran of 26 months in the South Pacific, is in Fort Worth spending a 30-day leave with parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Pierce, 1505 Sylvania. He is shown in uniform, standing against a bare wall and smiling for the camera. He wears the shoulder patch of the 5th Amphibious Corps, which depicts a gold alligators head and three stars, signifying the co-operative work of the Army, Navy and Marines in the group. He was a former employee of the Gulf Oil Company. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 12, 1944.
