Description

Private First Class Durwood E. Pelton, 25, a Marine, was wounded in the battle for Saipan on July 8, 1944 and is now back in the country. His wife and three children live in San Antonio. Private Pelton had three years' service in the Army before enlisting in the Marines December 1, 1942. This is a portrait of him in his military uniform. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition, September 15, 1944.
